Women increased their purchase intentions by more than 200 percent when the models in the mock ads were their size.
…
While some women in my study felt insecure when they saw idealized models, their insecurity didn’t translate to purchase intentions as the industry hopes; it actually turned them off the product.
As one of the participants summarized: “Ads like this want us to be part of their world, but they have the opposite effect for me. I feel excluded.”

For some reason, although this fact made the rounds six months ago, it’s become news again. So, not to miss out on the fun, and the new pics, the Easter Island heads’ bodies have been found, underground. Seems obvious in retrospect….

I know I should stop, but in the aftermath of what Romney did, it’s just too much fun! This is from the Democratic Underground:

I love the comment “And from what I hear, not a very good one: Your client had to be held down, crying, and you chopped it all to hell.”

For the past 25 years Star Wars director Lucas has been trying to transform his prime chunk of land in North San Francisco Bay into a massive movie studio but his rich neighbors have fought him all the way. So now he’s going to turn the property into low-income housing:
He wants to transform the property into low-income housing, naturally, ending their official statement with this zinger, “If everyone feels that housing is less impactful on the land, then we are hoping that people who need it the most will benefit.”
He’s working with the Marin Community Foundation to instead construct affordable housing for either low-income families or seniors living on small, fixed incomes. In order to smooth along the development, he’s already given them all of the pricey technical studies and land surveys Lucasfilm spent years conducting. And we think that’s just great. Because if there’s one thing rich people will hate more than having movie magic made in their backyard, it’s poor people moving in.
